This Wednesday (7pm in the Central Middle School library) we’re having a special Board Meeting to vote on placing a new parcel tax measure on the ballot. If the School Board approves it — and I suspect it will — it will place the measure on a mail-in ballot in May. The current proposed measure includes the following:
- $78/year per parcel
- Six year term
- All funds to stay local
- An exemption for Seniors 65 and older
You can read the full resolution and ballot language here.
Needless to say, it is crucial that we not only put this measure on the ballot as well as pass it in May. Once a measure is placed on the ballot, an independent campaign committee will lead to charge to get the measure passed. I encourage all of you to both attend the meeting on Wednesday as well as get involed with the campaign.
