Last night the School Board passed a resolution, 5-0, to place a new local parcel tax on the ballot. This will be placed on an all mail-in ballot due May 5. It is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that this measure be passed (with a 2/3 supermajority) if we have any hope of retaining so many of our wonderful programs in our schools. The next step is that an independent campaign committee will form to raise money and educate the public on the measure. It will require a ton of volunteers, and this will be a community-based effort — the Board and the District can not advocate for, or spend resources on, this measure once it is placed on the ballot.
See the article in the San Mateo Daily Journal on the meeting.
I will post information about the campaign when I receive it. Please contact me if you want more information for now.
