About this site

I am currently a Governing Board Member of the San Carlos School District, elected November 2007 and again in November 2011. I created this site to keep in touch with folks who want to know more about what is happening in the District and what it's like to be a Trustee.

Please note that ANY OPINION EXPRESSED HERE IS PURELY PERSONAL AND DOES NOT NECESSARILY REFLECT OFFICIAL POSITIONS OR POLICY OF THE SAN CARLOS SCHOOL DISTRICT NOR THE OPINION OF ANY OF MY COLLEAGUES ON THE BOARD.

I encourage everyone to visit the District web site as well as attend School Board meetings.

Note that I reserve the right to edit, reject, or delete posts based on spelling, grammar, readability, or my judgment of what is appropriate discourse.

So you want to be a Board member?

It’s actually a lot more fun than it looks — I promise!

There are three slots up for election to the School Board on November 3rd. The filing period for candidates opens on July 13th and goes through August 7th.

There is a candidates resources page on the San Mateo County Elections Office website, which is vey useful. There is a candidates’ guide, information on candidates’ seminars, and their staff is extemely helpful. The process for filing is fairly simple. Go down to the County Elections office (40 Tower Road, San Mateo), or feel free to contact me with any questions!

It might be confusing as to which board member terms are expiring, since the Web page http://www.sancarlos.k12.ca.us/board.htm has all expiring 2011 and none expiring in 2009. I hope the new superintendent will put a process in place to fix problems with the School district Web site.

Yes, the website is incorrect and needs to be fixed. To clarify, three seats are up this November and two seats in 2011.
